Managed vs. Unmanaged VPS Hosting

You’ve done your web hosting domain research. You know that you want to use vps hosting because it offers a combination of secure privacy and shared network features that isn’t matched by other hosting options. However, you’ve got a decision to make that could leave you stuck. That decision is whether to get managed or unmanaged vps hosting.

As the name suggests, the basic difference between managed and unmanaged vps hosting is who has control over the site. If you are familiar with database hosting technology and want to maintain control of the site yourself, you’re going to want to select unmanaged hosting. On the other hand, if you don’t really know what your web host is doing behind the scenes and you don’t care to learn, managed hosting is the option to choose.

There are pros and cons to both types of vps hosting. What is right for your website is going to depend on your own level of technological skill. It’s also going to depend on what types of things you want to be able to do on your site without consulting your web host. For sites that are simple and people who don’t mind a little bit of management from an outsider, getting managed hosting can simplify the way that the work gets done. But that doesn’t make it right for everyone.
